The bakery and confectionery Schmidl in Dürnstein was founded in 1857. Since then this name is a synonym for high quality products.
In 1905 Rudolf Schmidl created the "Wachauer Laberl". This product is still made according to secret recipe. The "Laberl" is crunchy outside and smooth inside. So it goes well with wine and you can get it at Heurigen and at wine tasting events. Together with the home made apricot jam it is a must for breakfast.
The bakery supplies Lower Austria and Vienna and partner companies sell their products all over Austria and Germany.
